I’ve been dying my own hair for years, first of all. My hair is a medium shade of red naturally.. and I’ve let it grow out for the first time in months. I’ve decided that I wanted to dye my hair a more intense, almost orange, coppery red with the underneath/bangs being a medium shade of blonde. I’m not entirely sure how to go about this, though. Should I dye my hair the red shade all over first and then add the blonde over that after I shampoo my hair.. or should I do each separately?

Oh, and I’m not looking to go to a salon. I don’t have the money and I have a lot of experience dying my own hair and it always comes out looking even and fine.. so please don’t suggest that.

I am dying my hair from blonde to dark golden brown and I want to put highlights in it also. They are both from Clairol. About how long should I wait after dying my hair to put the highlights in? Does it matter? Thanks!

I box dyed it about a week ago. My hair is naturally red, so i died it dark brown using Lore’al Preference. I was very disappointed with it. It didn’t even look like i died it.

How long should i wait before re-dying it?
And could i use a soft black or brown black to make it darker?

Also, i have lighter skin.

Im wondering what level of peroxide i should use to mix the colour with?

I’ve heard people talking about using tinfoil as a method when dying hair and I’ve seen it on TV, but how would I do that? I am using pink Manic Panic and this is the first time I am dying my hair. I am blonde and not interested in bleaching or dying my hair beyond the Manic Panic though.
