What are the stages of grief? 3 comments

grief
blairep929 asked:

I think I have minor grief, and I think i’m in anger or minor depression. What are the stages and how do I deal?
whats clinical depression? I just experience a loss and I’m real hurt, crying a lot, depressed feeling. i wouldnt go as far as calling it complete grief just because some people with grief have lost a parent or something but mine is that bad, so comparing them seems not right.

RiverQueen asked:

I am interested in knowing whether the world has become a safer place? How have the death rates from conflict fluctuated throughout history? ie. from the time when record keeping makes it possible to make reasonable estimates.

Is it possible to grief without having closure? 1 comment

vmarie84 asked:

If someone you know had been murdered or you died right after you got into a big fight, can you still grieve properly over their death? Can the same be true for those involved in closed adoptions?

How can anyone oppose the death penalty and support legal abortions at the same time? 14 comments

dragonfly9151974 asked:

The people who are executed under the death penalty have had the chance to speak up for themselves. Innocent pre-born children do not have the ability to do so. There is not a single unselfish reason to have an abortion.

I do not think abortion should be illegal when it is necessary to save the mothers life, but even that is usually a question of self service or self sacrifice.

This is both a moral (on the part of the mother) and ethical (on the part of medical proffessionals) issue.

Biology identifies species based upon their genetic make up. Genetically we are complete human beings from the moment of conception.

The brain at the early stages is undeveloped rather than non-existant. By the same token we could say that an elderly person who has lost most of their capacity to think no longer has a fully developed brain and is therefore expendable.

Your frind could have given the child up for adoption. There are plenty of couples waiting. She could even have had the baby and just left it with hospital perrsonel.

I have a friend who was adopted, and abused by her adoptive parents. She ran away at fourteen, married into a psychologically abusive relationship and had four kids and divorced before age 21. Her ex managed to convince the court that she was an unfit mother and her kids got put in foster homes. She then fell into a sexually and physically abusive relationship which lasted 10 years. While in that relationship she raised three runaways. Because of things that were done to her in this second relationship she now has major nuerological problems. if anyone should be pro-choice it would be her, but she sees no justification for abortion, and belives unwanted children should be given up for adoption.

No I am not talking about me. I had a happy childhood and no abusive relationships.
Executes. Not Murders. Murder is an illeagal act.

You can not seprate morals from the law. Murder is Illegal because it is immoral. Theft is Illegal because it is immoral.

How can a near death experience affect us psychologically? 2 comments

The First Lady asked:

I was told that one of the affects of near death experiences is that it makes us afraid to take risks throughout life. Any comments on this?
